                       Evaluation Of My Preliminary Task

My role in this task was to direct and write the shots and script for the preliminary task. In this task, I did not act in it because I decided that I only wanted to film it, so that I knew how to film for my opening of a horror movie and so I got more familiar with different camera angles.

The location for my preliminary task was great because it had all of the facilities that I needed in one place. This meant that I didn't need to go and find a certain facility, so I didn't have to waste any of my time. The sound and speech went really well and I only had to shoot them once mostly because my actresses didn't mess around or forget their lines. There was only a couple of occasions when I had to shoot the same clip twice and this was because I didn't know whether the way Georgia reacted to Willow would look realistic, so I decided to have her react differently, so then I could pick which one looked better when I came to filming it.

The part that didn't go as well was filming the 180 degree because on the first time I did it, the tripod stopped turning for a slight second, meaning when I looked back at it, there was a jump in the clip and that didn't look very good so I decided to film it again. This will help me with my final opening because I know now to make sure that the tripod turns before I start filming. This will save me time and will make it look more professional.

One thing that I couldn't fix was in one shot Willow had her arms by her face and then in the next shot she had her arms down which doesn't look as good, but I couldn't fix it because it was already too late. This is because I didn't double check that she was still in the same position and I didn't re-film it once I knew that it was wrong. This helped me though because when I film my opening I need to make sure that if there is one clip going into another clip that the actor/actress stays in the same place.

Overall, I think this task helped me to familiarise myself with different camera angles and working with different people, one who does drama and one who doesn't. This helped me in deciding that I need to choose people who do drama, because they know how to act more and have developed their acting skills already and I now know that I have to make sure that the clips look right and if not I have to re-do them.
