Idea One.
My first idea for a costume design and the one that I am going to use, is a white, floaty dress that will be cut and have bits that are covered in mud to add to the affect that she has been running in the woods, maybe that she has fallen over and ripped her dress, which will make her look like she is in a rush because she is scared. Having her dress white will show to the audience that she is innocent and would make her to the audience seem younger and more likely to be a victim. Having the dress floaty will make a better affect when she is running and if the wind blows because it will reveal more of the cuts and rips as she runs and makes her look more innocent because it is not tight on her.Idea Two.
Another idea is to have her wearing a fur coat over the top of her dress. This would make her look a little bit more older and she would then look like the type of girl to tease and abuse mentally men, by flirting but never wanting to go out with them, just looking for a good time. I had an idea to have it in the colour black because it then shows she could potentially have a dangerous side to her and this is why Edward Drifter has chosen to go after her, because she looks like the type of girl that would mess boys around. If she wore this she would therefore not look as innocent then if she just had the white dress on.Idea Three
Another idea, which is again the idea I am going to go with, is to have her wearing ripped tights on, to show that she has been running through the forest, not thinking or caring about what happens. It would show that she has had to run for quite a while because the opening even starts and it could show to the audience that she would be in a rush, hence the fact she has ripped her tights. It also adds a great effect for the audience to show that it's not like she has just stepped out of a romantic movie but it is a horror movie where bad things happen.Idea Four.
Another one of my ideas is to have her wearing heels. This would show to the audience that she hasbeen on a night out or had drinks with a few friends, to show that she is now just walking home rather than her just walking into a forest looking for trouble. The only problem with heels is that it will be very hard for our actress to run in them effectively because she has to look like she is in a rush as well as looking like she has been on a night out. This is why we don't think we are going to have her running in heels but it is still an idea because we could have the heels in one shot on their own and then her running in bare feet, to show that she was in such a rush that she took her heels off. It would also the give Edward Drifter an idea of which direction she has gone in.
Idea Five.
This is another possible idea. Having a purple/burgundy coloured hat, which looks like the style of hat that they used to wear in the 1930's will be good to use because the audience would then know that its set in that sort of time. It also adds a bit of character to the victim.Idea Six.
These are the shoes that I am going to have our victim wear. They are simple black shoes that look a bit like brogues. This again link to the time that the horror movie is set and it also makes it easier for our audience to run in. They still look rather posh though, so it can still look like she has come back from a night out and is walking alone. This is the planning I did for the costume ideas for the victim.
Excellent care and attention to detail in your blog. Well illustrated and commented upon. Overall a super blog. Well done.
