Camera Angles of The Devil Inside Clip

Camera Angles of The Devil Inside Clip

This camera angle is a birds eye view of our two actresses, Rachel and Charlie. This camera shows Rachel sitting on a chair on the left and Charlie sitting on a chair on the right and it establishes the setting of the scene. This four second clip doesn't have any dialogue or any movement which sets the atmosphere for the scene. It only shows Rachel's facial expression as we only see the back of Charlie.

This next camera angle is a side close up of Charlie's face. In the three second clip, Charlie says the first line of the script, "Maria, I'm your daughter", which establishes to the audience that the character is American and it gives them some background information that they are mother and daughter. Charlie's facial expression is fairly neutral and that doesn't show the audience what she is feeling, giving a bit of tension.

The next camera angle is a close up of Rachel's facial expression. Rachel's facial expression is a creepy smile, showing the audience that Rachel's character isn't normal and that she may have something wrong with her. Then she says "Connect the cuts" over and over in a bit of a whisper. This creates a spooky atmosphere for the audience.

This next camera angle is over Charlie's shoulder, showing Rachel's facial expressions and not Charlie's. They are on the edge of the screen, showing the setting as well as the characters. Rachel says "Connect the cuts" again over and over, showing to the audience that she may have been possessed or that she has something wrong with her.

The next camera angle is a close up of Charlie's face which is closer then the one before. This shows her facial expression as to what Rachel has just said to her. It shows the audience how she doesn't know what kind of a state her mother is in till now, giving a confused feel to the audience. The fact that she doesn't say anything shows to the audience her confusion and shock.

The next camera angle is a close up of Rachel's face while she says "Do you know how to connect the cuts". It shows Rachel's facial expression to the audience. Rachel's facial expression shows to the audience that she is mentally ill, because of the smile and spookiness of her body language. The next camera angle is a close up that zooms on to her arm to show the red cuts. The camera follows down Rachel's arm like the audience would look if Rachel was going to show them.

The next camera angle follows Rachel's hand as she raises it to her face. The next camera angle is a close up of Rachel's face and fingers. Rachel's shows her lip, with her two fingers, with a creepy facial expression, showing her insanity. The close up shows the audience a clearer view of what her expression is and creates tension.

The next camera angle is a close up of Charlie's worried facial expression while she says to Rachel  "Did you do this to yourself?" The camera angle adds to the tension of scene because it shows how scared and worried she is for her mum because of what is happening to her and what she has become.

This next camera angle is an over the shoulder view, looking at Rachel as she signals to Charlie to come here. Rachel does a scary facial expression as she signals before moving on her chair to get very close to Charlie's face in her Charlie's personal space. There is no dialogue in this part which builds tension because everything is very quiet and eerie.

This next camera angle is a two shot, showing more of Rachel then then Charlie. Rachel then says "It's against God's will you know?" and then smiles creepily at Charlie. Then the camera follows Rachel as Charlie exits because Rachel's screams in Charlie's face and then starts to throws her arms and screams. That is then the end of the scene.
